Health-E Newsletter December 2018

Following recent discussions between Discovery Health and the Council for Medical Schemes, the following changes have been made to the KeyCare Plus and KeyCare Priority Plans for 20019 which we would like our members to be aware of.

 The changes are as follows:

  1. PRIORITY PLANS: The Above Threshold Benefits will increase by 8.9% and not by 10% as originally announced.
  2. KEYCARE PLANS: The lowest income band for the KeyCare Plus and KeyCare Core options will no longer be merged in 2019.

Below, please find more information about each of these changes:

 1. PRIORITY PLANS

As mentioned above, the Above Threshold Benefits for Priority Plans will increase by 8.9% effective January 2019. The premiums for the Priority plans for 2019 will now be as follows:

2. KEYCARE PLANS

As the KeyCare Start plan is not available nationally, it has been decided to keep the lower income brackets for the KeyCare Plus and KeyCare Core plans for 2019. Contributions for members on the lowest income band will increase by 9.9% and not by 47% which would have been experienced by some members as a result of the merged income bands. Contributions for the middle income band will increase by 9.9% and not by 5% as originally announced. The contributions for 2019 will now be as follows:
